Tear it down! The terrible spectacle of Trump destroying the East Wing of the White House to build a ballroom is a real downer. The Trump ballroom will be bigger than the iconic White House, which no longer will seem as iconic. It will cost over $300 million from private donors, but they haven’t told us who these donors are and if they have any business before the federal government, you think?
It’s so unnecessary. A little over a mile from the White House is the National Building Museum with its magnificent Great Hall, which could accommodate up to 2,000 for a ballroom event. On our podcast, Politics War Room, with James Carville and me, the legendary architectural critic Paul Goldberger this week referred to Trump’s designs as gaudy, banal, and tacky.
We agree. If the Democrats take control of the executive branch in 2029, there will be more pressing priorities. But as far as this monstrosity, there is only one answer. Tear it down.

The criminal authoritarian is at work tearing down the symbols of Democracy. All done with lies and covered with deception. He functions as though he were a King or a Caesar. But he should remember how that turned out for Julius Caesar!
Definitely, I’m appalled at the destruction of the historic White House.
If Trump builds that ridiculous monstrosity, it should be torn down at Trump‘s expense!
How much of taxpayer money will be used for this unnecessary ballroom’s upkeep?
