Todd Blanche told the Senate Republicans he would be an attorney general who would not play politics. It worked. He got confirmed by a vote. Within a week, the same Blanche refused to say he would ever make a decision independent of his boss, Donald Trump.
He then went and he campaigned with Trump and with the eminently unqualified FBI director, Kash Patel, in New York for the GOP gubernatorial candidate. He was there at that rally. You know, it’s highly unusual for an attorney general to hit the campaign trail like that. But then again, Blanche is a highly unusual attorney general.
He serves not the public, he serves one man, Donald J. Trump. his message by going to the New York rally and his other statements to Senators Tom Tillis, John Cornyn and Bill Cassidy, who thought they got various assurances and provided the winning votes, Blanche’s message to them was simple. Hey, suckers.
