The Trump administration and its desperate effort to control the independent Federal Reserve Board to serve its own political interests concocted a reason to fire board member Lisa Cook. Bill Pulte, a Trump hack who runs the housing authority in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, charged and sent to the Justice Department an allegation that Ms. Cook illicitly claimed two homes as her principal resident, thus qualifying for better mortgage terms at both.
The media dug into this and guess what? She declared one of these homes as a vacation home. So no offense. Pulte is so offensive. I mean, just listen to this. The Trump Treasury Secretary, Bessent threatened to punch him out. What a high-level group. Pulte is combing private records at Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae so that he can find Democrats who may have violated any mortgage terms and then bring charges against him. Just Democrats, apparently, so far.
Since the current Justice Department and Congressional Oversight Committees have a firm rule Republicans can do anything they want and can't be investigated, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and hopefully The Washington Post or others will engage in a really deep dive into Pulte and his disreputable behavior. This really is unconscionable.
